    Looooong day. .________.
Today was a long arduous day for me. It was one of the few days in the army where I feel that I made a difference in how everything went, and overall that things got accomplished. Its a good feeling. *Gives myself a pat on the back*

We went to the firing squa... I mean range yesterday. And it rained. And rained. Then stopped. Then rained harder. If you've ever seen that scene in Forrest Gump, thats pretty much how it went. But I layed in the mud, shot the targets. Im requalified marksman again. I did however manage to shoot an extra target this time. I would have gotten a slightly higher score but I forgot which targets I had already shot... so yeah. At least I didnt do what Sgt. Betty did. He shot the wrong lane, and ended up with a 16 of 40. Person next to him got 54 of 40.

So after doing the range thing, Young and I left around 1pm to go to a Miles gear training class. Young is the one in the armbar picture getting his arm hyperextended. Check Devart for that lol. Basically we were the ones tasked with learning how to put all the gear on the vehicles for the company. It was ok. Seemed simple enough. See, the base of the thing is magnetized. So you would think that would make the job a breeze. Well apparently no one sent them the memo that all our vehicles are made of fiberglass. Super. Spent most of the day trying to rig makeshift brackets on 12 vehicles.

Anyway, enough whining about how crappy the day was. On to better news. One of my platoon friends was kind and generous enough to let me borrow his phone to call home. It was my first call stateside since ive been in Korea. I wanted to call Cait, but I needed to talk to my Grandma about some important things. Speaking of which, she now knows about the engagement. I didnt want to tell her about it earlier, mostly because I'm an idiot and tend to overthink things like that. But she knows now, and shes happy for us. Which is a huge load off my mind because I owe her like everything... Everything and more. So Cheers to Grandma!

Anyway. Everyone is going to the field tomorrow. Everyone it seems except our platoon. Because we have no equipment. And yes I know that its horrible to start a sentance with because, but Im doing it anyway. >:D

I guess thats all for now. I need to go sleep. Like now. So tired.

    Gnight!

    Fighting, Healing
I think I mentioned just how much fun I've been having in Korea in my last update. Going through the gas chamber and all on my first day. Yeah. It just keeps getting better and better with my unit.

Since we supposedly had nothing better to do, our command decided we should go do level one combatives. The class is /supposed/ to be voluntary. But whatever. It was actually pretty fun. That is, until the clinch drill. Picture if you will, the following: You standing there in your regular ACU uniform, only barefoot. Ten feet away is a guy that easily dwarfs Jon, wearing boxing gloves. Your mission is to go in and grab the guy and put him in a certain position, called a clinch, and hold on for dear life until the referee decides 'you got him'. Meanwhile the guy in boxing gloves is trying to take your head off. And if that all wasnt bad enough, you have to do it four times. Yay. I was fine with it until they told me I couldnt hit him back... x.x!

So I think I got a minor concussion. I'm ok though. I protected the nose and chin well, and neither got hit at all. I'm thankful. Out of 14 people doing the class, eight ended up with bloody noses. So huzzah. We have a weeks break before level two starts up. They said there wasnt anything nearly as bad as the clinch drill in this class so I'm happy about that. I can deal with being sore, but that was just straight brutality.

My camera came in handy throughout the class, so now I have a bunch of combatives pictures on my computer. I think the guys are trying to make me the photographer for the platoon or something. I need to get a better memory card for the camera if thats going to be the case. I missed a really good soccer game that I wanted to go to. The top two professional teams in Korea were playing. Maybe if the Army gets another trip set up, I can go to maybe a playoff game or something. We'll see.

My stuff from Ft Huachuca gets here tomorrow supposedly. Its about time I think.

I guess thats about it. Just been sore and crazy busy and stuff. Talk to you all later. Or at least write/IM or whatever. ^.^

    A Passive and Friendly People
Thats what they said about the Korean people. I dont believe it anymore. Heres why

On the bus to get from the inprocessing station for 2nd ID to my unit, we were driving along just as fine and dandy as a blind person behind the wheel can do. I swear to goodness whoever taught these people to drive needs to be shot. Apparently a red light in Korea means "blast on through, dont worry about the cross traffic." I'm not making this up. I felt safer with Amy driving that night we went to the interstate fair. And thats saying something. Ok... on with the story.

We were driving along and this bongo truck cut us off. Which to me is no big deal. But then he slowed down. Which was not good. A half ton truck can slow down a lot faster than a 4 ton bus. So in order to avoid an accident, our bus driver did the only thing he could. Swerve into ONCOMING traffic. OMG. Well we didnt hit anything thankfully. We got to the red light and pulled up to this truck driver and our driver starts screaming out the window at him in rapid Korean. It was kind of funny to listen to. I swear I wish I had a video camera for this. So the light turns green and its no worse than a little spat in a crowded NYC street. We drive along and pull up behind the truck at the next light. At this point though the bus driver is fuming. He jumps off the bus, runs up to the truck, yanks the door open, and punches the other guy in the face. Then he yells at him some more. Theres this guy selling knives on the corner and he comes jogging up and the only thing I can think is that our driver is about to become like some mad slasher or something. Most of us soldiers on the bus are just about ready to jump off the bus and join in if theres a brawl about to start up. But the driver runs back and jumps on the bus and we finish the trip without anymore incident.

A peaceful and passive people that avoid fights. Sure. Ok.

Anyway, about a week ago I saw in the paper that a UAV crashed here at Camp Casey. The same type of system I fly. Guess which unit I got stationed with. Guess which unit doesnt have any aircraft to fly right now. Guess who had to go through the gas chamber his first day here. Yup. Well at least I didnt have to go out with the whole brigade for 4 days looking for where the stupid thing crashed. ^.^!

And sorry for not being able to contact you on your birthday Cate. Stuff came up... So happy belated birthday!

Anyway. My platoon Sergeants decided that since I'm restricted on post for 30 days, they would take me out to the ville to show me just what I wasn't missing. That was fun... not really. Picture Las Vegas. Only in a ghetto. Thats pretty much it. Bar after bar after bar. And omg the juicy girl stories are true. I was so embarresed by how little shame they really have. I had to ask the guys showing me around if there were any normal bars. Apparently there arent. Super. I did see this little pawn shop on the corner that has some awesome ff8 posters though so I definately need to go there and grab some of those. Maybe a cool mink blanket or something too if I find one I like.

Still no internet. Dont know if I should get that first or the cell phone. Probably the net.

Anyway I guess thats all for now. More news as it comes along. ^^

    Later every1!

    Howdy From Korea
Well before I begin this post I have one small thing to say in a big way...

    !!!!!!!!!KATE CHECK YOUR EMAIL!!!!!!!!!

Now that all of that business is out of the way, Hello everyone. ^^

Korea is ok. The flight was fun but I would rather be in Pensacola still. At the same time Id rather just get all of this over with so I can back home sooner. I have a few goals to put out here for the time that Im here.

    1) Try a whole bunch of weird korean drinks. Im not too big on spicy food so I think I'll stick with the drinks. ^^

    2) Hang out with my cousin Joe while were both over here. It'll be fun. Maybe we can check out some of the local sites or something. It'll be great.

    3) Japan. Period.

Anyway. The hotel I stayed in the first night was awesome. And by awesome I mean absofreaking awesomely awesome. The barracks here.... not so much. Hopefully when I get to Camp Casey, theyll be a bit better. And I'll get an address there. And a phone. And internet. I dont like searching around for wifi. Its not fun. Especially since were stuck in battle buddy teams and all that. I dont like asking people to go places. I like being independant.

Anyway, last night was ok. I checked out the px a little bit. After that I went and watched Live Free or Die Hard at the movie theatre here. It was great... and free.
I think tonight theyre playing Oceans 13 so I might try to go see that too.

Anyway. I dont know much what else to write for now so I'll just say goodbye for now and see you next time. ^^

    Bye everyone! ^^

Around 1 in the morning out on Pensacola beach, I asked Catie to marry me. (She said yes by the way =P)

Anyway, since Im deploying to Korea in a few days, for a few years, the wedding wont be for a while, but we'll let you all know when, where, and everything else.

    Take care everyone ^^

    Lovely Day
So the totally super thing about the army is that theres always 3 certainties.

    1) You will get paid.
    2) You will get to eat, most of the time.
    3) Nothing is ever certain.

The third one is the hardest truth to face sometimes. Its also the one that bites you in the ass the hardest, especially when you least expect it of course. Remember I said I was heading to Fort Lewis in Washinton, in oh... say like a week in a half. Yeah. My orders got dropped and I have no new ones. Which means that I'm pretty much stuck here, unless by some miracle I get new orders in like the next 4 days.

    >.<

I had everything set up too. Like my transportation, and the movers. So yay to having no freaking clue as to whats going to happen.

In other words, I go to the field in about an hour. We'll be gone no later than thurday night I hope.

Flying hasnt been too good lately. Out of 10 schedualed days of flying, we did a grand total of 2, thanks mostly to the weather, and partially to crappy airplanes that wont work right. I think the maintenance techs are do for a good buttkicking. Maybe then the aircraft will get fixed properly. We went in on Saturday to do makeup flights, and I managed to get almost half done with my flights. So instead of sleeping before the FTX, I went in again tonight, to get told 2 hours later that the weather was bad and to go back to the barracks for like 2 hours of sleep. Yea, not gonna happen. So here I am writing this.

On a good note though, come hell or high water, my grandma is coming out to see me next week, where I'll hopefully be graduating. I say hopefully, but in truth it better be a damn right I'm graduating. I dont want to spend any more time here than I have to. Ive got places to be and people to see. That and I want to drive my car for like the first time in almost a year.

Guitar hero encore: rocks the 80's is awesome. But its annoying me because I have I Ran by Flock of Seagulls stuck in my head now. But I can play it on hard mode now. Trying to do Turning Japanese and 18 and Life on hard now. Stupid chords messing me up.

Anywho. Anywhere. Anything. Anyway? Yea thats the one. =P

I'll have my cell phone on me, so if you need anything call me. Just do it at night. And hope Im not asleep. lol. Actually, let me call you, cuz I think I'm gonna need that sleep now that I think about it.

Oh. Jon. If you can find the big paperback version of the Mallorian for me, I'll pay you back. Part 2. I hate Arizona, they dont have anything here. So thats about it. Catch you all eventually. You know the drill

Seemed like something that needed to be said. We finally start flying monday... maybe. =/

Ok, more like, were supposed to start flying monday. Guess its not exactly the same thing. They actually start doing flights on the Warrior system tomorrow. Maybe I'll get to stay home, or maybe I'll get to watch a little of its flight. But I somehow get the feeling that neither is the case. Oh well, I'll let you know how that turns out.

Fort Lewis, Washington. I have no idea where exactly that is. All I know is that its close to Mt Hood, if that helps.

Anyways, I'm off for nows. Catch ya later evil robot us's.

    Heya
Falar pretty much summed up the general feeling of the Transformers movie. Im almost out of Arizona, which is cool and all, but for some reason I dont really feel excited about it. Or anything.

I poked around the internet for a bit today. Got on the VI for like the first time in several months. I cant believe I've been away from it for so long. I feel like I should go back and start RPing again, but I have no clue where to start. I dont want to delete Alastor, but I dont see any way for him to grow as a character now. At the same time though I really dont want to start a new character so I'm in a dilemma.

I miss my family. I miss my friends. I really miss the people who happen to be both.

Anyway I guess thats all I got for now.

    Peace

Set up some new pics on my livejournal for the time being. Trying to match my optimism to the pic... Lets see if it works. Other than that, theres not much. Just trying to pass this class.

Like holy crud batman! Or something.

I finally cracked and got a myspace. Not because I wanted to...

See, my cousin is in Korea right now. Which means his time zone in relation to MY time zone means we havent talked or heard from each other since christmas. Since our locations put a damper on any form of communication, I decided I might as well get one. That way I dont have to hear about him knocking someones teeth in from 2nd or 3rd parties. He can give me the juicy details himself. Which will be cool.

So if any of you have a MySpace, and Im sure at least half of you peoples do... Send me a friend requestness.

    The Pit.
In a lot of movies theres usually some sort of foul, unspeakable place where no one wants to go. Typically, though not always, its a pit of some form or another. The army has a pit too. And I got a brief taste of it today. Lets just say that the rumors are true. Very true. I would start some big spiel about how I heroically defeated my enemies, or perhaps how I ingeniously escaped my captors, or other such nonsense. But I'm tired. And sore. And I have about 4 pounds of dirt in my hair alone.

Other than that, it was a pretty good day. Positive target identification class ended and we had our first day of Unmanned Ground School today. Its called UGS. Basically its the FAA approved school for UAS's. Theyre not called UAV's anymore. (Unmanned Aerial Systems now) Apparently pilots think were a big joke or something, but in a few years they'll probably be out of a job, so I think we'll have the last laugh. Dont quote me on that though. Just call it.... a hunch.

Alright, we'll Im going to go take a very VERY long hot shower. Hopefully feel a bit better in the morning, so I'll catch you all later.

Mixing the old with the new...
I think thats the best way to describe the week so far. Not in some kind of supreme life altering way or anything like that, but it just seems to ~fit~...

I guess I'll explain as well as I can.

I got volunteered to do CQ this weekend. I say I got volunteered in the sense that, I had absolutely no control or choice in the matter. I love the army. In any case, I had to work from 4:20am Easter morning, to almost 5pm that afternoon. Coupled with two hours of sleep the night before, you can see that I might be a bit tired. I spent most of the day at the CQ desk watching anime. I watched part of Inuyasha season 1. Some Negima. And some other stuff. After a while I had a decent crowd hanging out with me at the desk. I found a group of people here who actually like anime as much as I do, if not more. Hurray. So I think I'm starting to build a few friendships, if for nothing else than to get to watch some more anime for free. That's the new part.

The old part is something that means a great deal to me, and I have been wishing and hoping would happen for the better part of two months now. My dad wrote me an email. O_o I wrote him while I was in basic training, but I never got a responce from him and I was rather anxious about it. As it turns out, he wrote me a letter but it didnt get to Ft Sill in time for me to receive it, so it got returned to sender. He called Ft Huachuca but they couldnt tell him anything. So he sent me an email a few days ago. And I just finished writing him one back. So my day is awesome even if everything else goes wrong. And please dont try to test that one. I'll end up doing something regretable. >:D

Hopefully I can try to scrap together that relationship and maybe build it for the better. I sure hope so. He's pretty much the only reason why I made it through my early years, back when I was still living with my mother. I dont think he knows that, and I'm really not sure how to tell him. But I'll be damned if I have any relations with his new wife. She's almost as psycho as my Mom. And thats saying something. At any rate. Lets just see where this goes.

I've gotten re-rehooked on Lupin. I'm thinking on splurging and getting all ten movies. Funimation has 2 packs of the movies for like 20 dollars a piece, so ten movies for 40 bucks isnt bad at all. My grandma sent me some dvds, but she forgot to check the cases and ended up sending me a whole lot of empty cases. I had to just laugh. I guess I should have told her that most of my dvds are in those binders at my aunts house. Ce La Vie.

Ok, I'm out. Gonna try to do some RO'ing before I pass out.

    Thundercats, Nani?!?
Hey, drop and give me 20.

Its been a little while, though the time seems both long and short all at once. The weeks seem to be flying by, and I've been in Arizona almost 2 months now. Which is cool and all, but with the rate of speed that the days go by, I swear it seems like I've only been here 3 weeks. Well anyway, I guess I'll bring everyone up to date.

I'm in class finally. We just finished the first block of instruction and I have a 92% grade point average. It'd be higher, but I think I have a slight sleep disorder and I sometimes have trouble staying awake in dark, warm rooms. =P We're in the 2nd block now and its even worse than the first block. I'm planning on buying a huge thermos though, and filling it with super strong coffee. You know the kind. You take a sip and it feels like someone has secured your eyes wide open with clothespins. Hopefully that will help.

I feel so loved right now, from my family and friends at home. The people here are usually at the bare minimum discourtious, and a fair amount of time they go out of their way to be exceptionally rude, both to me and each other. It's such a shame because this place has such a possibility of being a good atmosphere and people would rather just be juvenile. Not that I dont have my moments, or limits to what I want to put up with. Oh, I'm off track. Yeah, I feel loved. I received a care package from my Aunt and Cousin today, filled with homemade cookies and, of all things, a pack of gummybears. Go deep Adam, if you're reading this. We need to get back in touch, if nothing else. I have two more care packages on the way too. One from Cat and the other from my Grandma. My Grammy is sending me some DVD's which is awesome, because I've been doing a little mini theatre thing from my room. I have absolutely no idea what Catie is sending, but I bet it'll be either weird and awesome, or just plain cool. Either way, I cant wait.

Lets see what else is going on. My new computer is up and running finally and obviously. The laptop, after years of valuable service, has just about called it quits. Im just hoping that it has enough left in it to transfer some of my music and of course my anime over to the desktop. Speaking of anime, I finished watching Ah My Goddess seasons 1 and 2. SO CUTE! And I took the nerd quiz, no doubt you can tell which one I am. Second place was the literary one, by the way. ^^

Our drill sergeants are absolutely crazy. I was pretty sure of the fact before, but two events in the past couple of days have confirmed the fact beyond a reasonable doubt. They bring the electric fart machines out to formation, and use it of course. Also, our platoon drill sergeant has seen fit to give us our own motto now. Its from 'Thundercats' hence the title of the post. It's rather embarrassing to have to say "Thunder! Thunder! Thundercats... HO!" in front of the entire company. Have to follow orders though. And at least we know he's not trying to be the 'hardass' drill sergeant. Which is good in its own right, I suppose.

Well, thats pretty much all for now. I guess I'll talk to most of you later. If I dont get the chance, just bug me. You know how to get in touch. ^^

Oh, before I almost forget again. Jon. Work on your book. ^^ And send me a copy. I need something to edit. Hehe.

    The TI virus...
Or whatever it is. The one from Resident Evil. You know, the one that turns everyone/thing into zombie types. Yeah, apparently its going around base. Nah, I'm just kidding. No zombies here. The virus thats going around seems to be much worse. Apparently theres some kind of 'flesh eating' virus going around here somewhere. And this is entirely serious now. They say its almost to epidemic proportions or something. I havent seen anyone with it yet, but thats not always a good sign. So instead of relaxing last night after having my wisdom teeth yanked out yesterday, I spent most of the evening scrubbing and cleaning the barracks with hot water and bleach. I also used my lysol with bleach bathroom cleaner on a lot of stuff. Hopefully theyll figure this thing out before more people get sick. Anyway, Im going to love and leave you all for now.

Oh, my thoughts are with you Jon and Mary. A speedy recovery for you Mary, and the best of luck with the Father situation for both of you... It seems you'll need all the luck you can get there.

OK, I'm out. I'm gonna go to chow and keep pretending to walk like a zombie and all...
